Last updated: October 10, 2023

Australian Phone Company is committed to protecting the privacy of customers and users of our VoIP applications including the AusPhoneVoIP SIP VOIP branded Softphone. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from you and how we use it.

All the permissions requested by the app is required only for proper functionality and to improve your experience with VoIP. The softphone application can be configured and used with Australian Phone Company servers only.

We (Australian Phone Company or Mizutech SRL the app developers) do NOT collect, store or process any data collected by the application. This is except the logs that you might submit manually in case if you wish to report any issue (Upload logs from the Help menu). These logs are sent to Mizutech SRL directly – the app developer and auto-deleted after 7 days.

However, on the VoIP service provider (Australian Phone Company) side, we might collect any data that it receives (SIP signalling and related data, no media data is collected) when the app is interacting with our VoIP network.

Australian Phone Company is sensitive to the private nature of information you enter when using our software. We take great care and use the latest technologies to ensure the security and safety of our software solutions. Our privacy practices are designed to maximize your ability to control the use of your personal, private information. We do not sell any information we collect to third parties.

Personal Data Collected

The application collects only data that is required to properly connect to your VoIP server of choice and to operate the software effectively providing you with the best possible VoIP experience. You provide most of this data on the "Settings" section of our applications or when you contact us for support. The software is also capable of getting some information automatically such as your contact list and country.

The following details are mandatory to be provided by the end-users: the address (IP and/or domain) of the VoIP server and your SIP account credentials (username/password).

Most of the details collected by our software is only sent to our own VoIP SIP server as these are required for proper functionality of the service or for enhanced experience.

The data we collect can include the following:

Audio recording. The application must have microphone access to fulfil its basic functionality of making VoIP calls. Data recorded is never sent to Australian Phone as a media but streamed to our SIP servers or peer when you initiate or receive a VoIP call.

Camera. Camera access is required only for video calls or if you wish to send camera pictures in chat messages. The app will be usable also without camera access for audio-only calls. Video data will be streamed over the SIP protocol during video calls or chat sessions.

Settings. Most of the settings you provide on the "Settings" section of the application will be stored only locally and will never leave your device. However, some settings are required to interact with our SIP servers / Australian Phone Company or Mizutech support and these might be sent with the SIP signalling or separate channels (usually via secure HTTPS-based API). The submitted details are listed in the below points.

Credentials. We collect your username and password for the VoIP service you wish to use to be able to login the SIP stack on these VoIP servers using secure SIP digest authentication conforms to SIP RFC 3261 standards. These details are stored only on your device (softphone settings).

Name and contact data. We might collect your name, email address and other similar contact data to enhance your VoIP experience. These details are not submitted to us, but might be presented in the SIP signaling so be presented to the other end (Caller/Called party).

Contact list. Your contact list is displayed within our software to make it easy to call people over VoIP. Some contact details might be sent to your SIP server if presence (users online/offline status display) is enabled. This can be turned on/off from settings.

External storage. External storage access might be asked by the app if you use certain features such as file transfer, send picture or media recording.

Voice recording. Our software has the capability to record voice conversations. This is an opt-in feature and only stored on your device for later reuse by you.

Location data. The software might automatically submit your IP address as part of the SIP signaling which might be processed by our VoIP servers. Only IP based lookup might be used, no any GPS data. Australian Phone Company customer support may have an access to your IP address from where you connect to the SIP server.

Device ID. The software might generate a GUID for your device which might be used for several features such as auto sign-up (to prevent flooding SIP providers with multiple new account requests). This GUID can't be used to track the user or the device, only to temporarily prevent subsequent new user sign-up requests.

Phone status. Our software collects information about your device such as internet connection type or idle status to determine the best suitable connection method, codec, retry interval and other details necessary for proper functionality. These information is are not submitted anywhere, but might be present in the logs.

Phone number. The application does not automatically read your phone number. However, the phone number (provided by us) linked to your VoIP account is linked on our side, and as VoIP provider, we know the phone number attached to SIP username.

Logs. From within the application, you can submit logs to Mizutech SRL support which might contain sensitive information such as your VoIP server address and username. They (as an app developers) are treating all these logs as confidential, used only for debugging and never shared with any third party.

Content. We may collect the content of your communications when necessary to provide you with the services you use. For example, if you receive a message using a Australian Phone SMS service, we need to collect the content of that message in order to deliver it to your softphone client, display it to you, enable you to reply to it, and store it for you until you choose to delete it.

We also collect the content of messages you send to us, such as feedback and product reviews you write, or questions or information you provide for customer support. When you contact us, such as for customer support, chat sessions with our representatives may be monitored and recorded.
